A child diagnosed with cancer or a severe blood disorder may spend hours, days or weeks receiving treatment at Prisma Health Children’s Hospital-Upstate in Greenville.

Throughout their hospitalization, the child will have family or loved ones standing by them to offer support.

Now, the hospital plans to create a new pediatric cancer and blood disorders unit that will provide comfort to the patients as well as their loved ones. The “Inspire Courage” capital campaign was launched by the hospital on Sept. 14 to raise $6 million for the new unit.

“This specially designed space will better blend family care with clinical care, helping reduce stress and offer a positive healing environment that nourishes the mind, body and soul,” said Dr. Aniket Saha, the unit’s medical director.
