SAN ANTONIO – The South Texas Blood & Tissue and BIG Love Cancer Care hosted a blood drive Sunday dedicated to pediatric cancer patients.
The event was held at Chicken ‘N’ Pickle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dedicated to pediatric cancer patients, including Brooke Phillips, 5, who was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago.
She fought courageously through chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant but unfortunately passed away.
“Brooke not only loved all her people, but she cared deeply about the cancer kids around her,” Brooke’s mother Jessica said. “She taught us how to see beyond our own pain and our own needs to recognize the needs of others.”
