DEPEW, N.Y. — It’s a week before Christmas and in Depew, the Adopt-A-Family program gave gifts to several families.
“I think they’re wonderful. This is my second year, and they are amazing people,” says Grandmother Kelly Rosenberger.
Rosenberger is picking up presents for her grandson Ethan. He’s 6 years old and has been diagnosed with Leukemia.
“He means more than my children,” Rosenberger says. She continues, “When he was first diagnosed I made a promise to him that I would stay by his side and fight this til the end.”
P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative, a local non-profit, is making sure families facing the unimaginable can have a happy holiday. The organization provides financial, practical, and emotional support to families dealing with pediatric cancer.
“It’s very hard to reconcile the most wonderful time of the year with childhood cancer. To take the burden off and give families one less thing to worry about, they have so much they’re already dealing with,” says Gwen Mysiak, Executive Director of P.U.N.T.
Generous donors throughout WNY have made it possible for over 70 families facing pediatric cancer to be adopted this holiday.
