STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Joseph and Marisa DiMartino, famous for their “Lights For Life” Christmas display and Staten Island University Hospital teamed up for the Pediatric Cancer Center’s “Day of Surprises” which included Santa making a special visit to 9-year-old cancer patient Kathleen Ortega of Stapleton.

Kathleen who is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, was diagnosed in 2023 and will continue chemotherapy treatments until at least mid-2025. She was accompanied by her mother Maria Ortega, and sisters Kaylee (13), Keisi (7), and brother Kevin (6), where Santa and SIUH staff were waiting to surprise her at the DiMartino’s “Better than Macy’s” Christmas display at their 107 Sharrotts Road home in Charleston.
