Emily Bhatnagar remembered what had coursed through her mind the first time she donated books to her local children’s hospital: “What if the kids don’t like books? We live in a digital age after all. What if they don’t like me?”

She was ecstatic to have been proved wrong. “They were the absolute kindest…They were so sweet and kind, and thanked me way more than I deserved to be thanked.”

Bhatnagar finds relief in donating books. To her, the person she felt was being helped was herself. The children who were on the receiving end were saving her, not the other way around.
